On Tuesday May 21, CompleteCare Health Network hosted The New Jersey Department of Health’s Centers for Medicaid and Medicare (CMS) as they stopped by their 14 N. Pearl Street corporate headquarters in Bridgeton NJ on their “Rural Road Trip”. CompleteCare Health Network’s executive team, along with New Jersey’s Commissioner of Health, Dr. Kaitlan Baston, and other members of the local healthcare community, exchanged ideas, information, and insights into the healthcare concerns of rural Cumberland County communities.

“Our communities mean the world to us.” Said James Curtis Edwards, President and CEO of CompleteCare Health Network. “We appreciate the coming together of all our healthcare professionals especially Inspira & The Cumberland County Health Department to keep all communities safe and healthy in New Jersey. CompleteCare Health Network is proud to host such a great event!”

With health care industry professionals in attendance in person and online via video chat, issues such as maternal health, substance abuse, access to care, and more were discussed and their impact on local rural communities. “The event had a fantastic turnout!” said Meghan Spinelli, VP of Community and Government Outreach, “I felt inspired learning how many people are working behind the scenes to ensure that New Jersey is offering the best healthcare opportunities to our communities.”

Solutions to healthcare barriers such as transportation to and from medical appointments, affordability, and cultural proficiency were also hot topics of discussion.  “Our commitment to improving rural health care in New Jersey has never been greater, and it is with the support of our federal and local partners like CMS, CompleteCare and AtlantiCare that we can make a difference in rural South Jersey,” said Dr. Omolola Taiwo, Executive Director, Office of Primary Care and Rural Health Division of Community Health Services, New Jersey Department of Health. “Additionally, the invaluable insights of rural health care providers dedicated to providing care in South Jersey help us build on progress made and create opportunities for greater success. We are proud to continue our collaboration through events like this as we work towards better solutions and health outcomes for our rural communities.”
