Received a letter from NJ FamilyCare? It doesn’t mean you’ll lose coverage. More information is needed to determine eligibility after September 30, 2026. Here’s what you need to know:
Open the letter right away:
Open and ready your letter. DO NOT throw it away. It has your instructions for sending in your documents.
Find the Due Date:
Find the due date, and read what you will need to send in. Collect the items you need to send.
Don’t miss your due date! :
Send your items before your due date in the letter.
Ask for help:

Important deadlines
Oct. 1, 2026 – NEW RULES:
New rules start for some people who are not U.S. citizens. Some people may lose NJ FamilyCare on September 30, 2026. This change does not affect everyone. Use the due date in your letter.
Jan. 1, 2027 – WORK REQUIREMENTS:
New rules start for some adults ages 19 to 64. Some people may need to:
- Work
- Go to school
- Take job training
- Volunteer
Miss your due date?
Do not give up. Call the number in your letter right away. You may still be able to:
- Send the papers
- Apply again
- Get another health plan
- Get help with your next steps
