CompleteCare Family Health Foundation Inherits the Bone Run & Walk

(June 20, 2019, South Jersey)-– Approaching its 15th year, the Bone Run & Walk has become a staple event of the fall season the South Jersey region.


Recently, the United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey has "passed the baton" to the CompleteCare Family Health Foundation, the fundraising arm of the CompleteCare Health Network.


This year's race is scheduled to take place at Parvins State Park in Pittsgrove at 9 am on Saturday, October 19th, rain or shine.


Foundation Director, Karla Laws, is familiar with the Bone Run, having previously overseen the event on behalf of the United Way for three years prior, as the Impact Associate and Resource Development Manager for UWGPSNJ in Cumberland County. "This truly is a collaborative handoff. The United Way and CompleteCare both share a common interest in improving the health of our communities, and proceeds from this event will continue to support programs (such as Baby Love and Smile Smart/ Health Solutions) that do just that."


The Halloween Bone Run & Walk, a local runners’ Halloween tradition, was first established in 2010 and hosted by South Jersey Healthcare as as a walk for osteoporosis prevention. Over the years, South Jersey Healthcare (later, Inspira Health Network) was passed to the United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey, where proceeds were used to support the health in our community thru their Healthy Kids initiative.


Through the years, the annual race has grown to over 750 participants, and continues to grow! Both runners and walkers of this 3 mile course around Parvin Lake, are encouraged to wear fun costumes!


Professionally timed by TNT Event Management, the course is USA Track & Field Certified, and includes scenic uphill and downhill trails. Cash prizes are awarded to the top 3 male and female finishers, and medals are given to the top finishers in each age category. Additionally, schools, businesses and clubs are encouraged to recruit teams of 10+ to participate, with prizes being awarded to the members of the top winning team. As is customary, costume prizes will also be awarded!


Early bird registration (prior to September 29th) for runners is $30 and $25 for walkers. Those who wait to register until after September 29th will pay $35. Race amenities include t-shirts and post-race refreshments.
