CompleteCare Announces Two Community HIV Testing Events

(February 25, 2019, Millville, NJ) -– CompleteCare Health Network is pleased to announce two upcoming HIV testing events open to the community. Both will be held at CompleteCare Medical & Dental Professionals located at 1200 North High Street in Millville. Dates for the events are Wednesday, March 13th and Wednesday April 17th, both from 9:30am-3pm.

Aside from fast, free and confidential HIV testing, which CompleteCare provides regularly, the events will feature refreshments and giveaways for those who get tested.

Human immunodeficiency virus, most commonly known as HIV, is a virus that weakens the immune system and can lead to Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome or AIDS. CompleteCare performs rapid HIV testing, which requires a simple finger prick. These tests look for HIV antibodies in the blood that indicate if HIV is present. Results are available in about 20 minutes.

The CDC recommends that everyone between the ages of 13 and 64 get tested for HIV at least once as part of routine care. People who are higher risk should get tested more often. In the United States about 1 in 7 people who have HIV do not know they have it.

There is currently no cure for HIV, however treatment options are available that help many achieve a normal life-expectancy with a good quality of life. Early treatment of the illness is important, which is why regular testing for the disease is necessary.
